Samaritans: 116 123Common questions
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can refer yourself: just call, email, or fill in the form above. You don't need a GP or any other professional to refer you.
How much does it cost? What if I can't afford much?
Sessions are offered on a donation basis, from £15. We never want cost to be a barrier to support. If money is tight, please still get in touch and we'll talk it through.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in your sessions stays confidential; it's the foundation of the work. (Full details of how your information is handled will be set out in our privacy policy.)
Who can come to Empathy Northwest?
We offer support to individuals, couples, families and children.
What kinds of things do you help with?
A wide range, including anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, anger and more. If what you're facing isn't listed, please get in touch anyway.
What types of therapy do you offer?
Counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, relaxation and visualisation, creative art and play therapy, and complementary approaches. You don't need to choose in advance; we'll find the right fit together in an initial conversation.
Do you offer support for children?
Yes. We offer creative art and play therapy in our dedicated Sunflower Play Room, a safe space for children to express themselves.
How do I get started?
Self-refer by calling 0303 303 1333, emailing us, or filling in the form above. We'll be in touch to arrange an initial conversation.
What if I need help urgently?
These services aren't for emergencies. If you're in immediate distress, contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7), your GP, or call 999.
