Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website comfortably, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they rely on.
What we've done
This site has been built with accessibility in mind. In particular:
- It can be navigated fully by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a “skip to content” link.
- It works with screen readers: landmarks, a clear heading order, labelled form fields, and described interactive controls.
- Text colours meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast minimum.
- It respects your “reduce motion” setting: animations are turned off if you've asked your device for less movement.
- Decorative images and icons are hidden from screen readers so they don't add clutter.
- It adapts to mobile, tablet and desktop, and supports text resizing.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. Accessibility is ongoing, and we keep working to improve.
Known limitations
We're not aware of significant accessibility problems, but no site is perfect. If you come across something that's hard to use, please tell us and we'll do our best to put it right or get you the information another way.
Visiting us in person
Website accessibility is separate from getting into the building. For the physical accessibility of our Wigan centre, such as step-free access, please give us a call and we'll talk it through.
Tell us about a problem
If anything on this site is difficult to use, contact us at empathynorthwest@outlook.com or on 0303 303 1333. This statement was last reviewed on 6 June 2026.
